B2Run goes Greek with Athens race
Over 240,000 participants expected to cross the finish line during 2019 season
Zug, Switzerland - B2Run, the corporate running series owned by Infront, has announced its expansion into Greece, with the Athens race one of several highlights of the 2019 season.
The partnership with Greece's I.Q. Sports, a member of the "EZ Greece Group", is the latest expansion of the series following growth into Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2018.
The 5km race will take place on October 10 with the course passing many of Athens' most famous landmarks, including the Modern Athens Agorà and the Wall of Nations. The finish line will be at the 2004 Olympic Stadium "Spyros Louis".
Lars Gerling, Managing Director of Infront B2Run said: "This year's season includes several highlights and we expect more athletes than ever before to attend. B2Run continues to expand into new markets and the ability to attract runners from all over Europe is a credit to the atmosphere and ethos of the races."
Thanassis Papadimitriou, CEO of I.Q.Sports, the licensee of B2Run in Greece, said: "We are more than delighted to welcome B2Run to Greece as part of the family. We aim to make B2Run the best corporate running event in Athens. We strongly believe in B2Run's unique characteristics and will endeavor to inspire the corporate market using the event's values."
New locations to join established events
The first event of 2019 takes place on April 25 in Split, marking the first of four Croatian races officially hosted under B2Run after the acquisition of the B2B Run series in 2018. A record 10,000 runners are expected to attend the races in Croatia.
Over 40 events will take place in total with over 240,000 participants expected to cross the finish line. Chur is included for the first time adding a ninth event in Switzerland on May 9, while Munich will once again host the biggest event of the year with 30,000 runners expected to participate in the race at the famous Olympic Park on July 16.
